School Counsellor

PERMANENT, FULL TIME, TERM TIME ONLY | STARTING TUESDAY 28 JANUARY 2025 

We are looking for the right person to join our expanding school counselling service. You will work with school leadership teams, rangatahi and whānau to understand the unique needs of the ākonga/learners at the school and their cultural, social and emotional needs.

Ideally, you will be experienced at working with tamariki, whānau and local communities and you will have a strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi. You will also need to be able to work collaboratively with staff and agencies to support the wellbeing of students. There is an expectation to not only work with individuals but to develop and support programmes across the school.

The successful candidate will be empathetic, organised, a skilled communicator and enjoy working with rangatahi. Ideally, they would maintain professional membership and registration with the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC), or a similar professional association, and comply with their associated Code of Ethics. They may or may not be a currently registered teacher in New Zealand but they must be residing in New Zealand.

Learning Assistant / Teacher Aide

FIXED TERM, TERM TIME ONLY | STARTING TUESDAY 28 JANUARY 2025

We are looking for an energetic person with a youthful approach, a keen sense of humour and experience in positive behaviour management techniques to work with akonga within a mainstream and special education setting in our collaborative Learning Support department.

The ability to develop trusting relationships with young people and adapt to fluid circumstances as part of a team would be an advantage. The successful applicant will have a calm manner, good organisational skills and a flexible approach to the job. A positive outlook and the ability to work with people of all ages and ethnicities as part of a positive team is desirable. Knowledge of Te Reo and Tikanga Māori would be welcomed.

IT competency along with good English language skills both written and spoken are essential as is IT competency. Applicants must have New Zealand residency. The role is subject to a satisfactory Police check.

The position is for 31 hours per week from 8.30 am – 3.20 pm, during term time only.
