International Students Explore Auckland
On Thursday 16 March, International students enjoyed a trip to Sea Life Kelly Tarlton’s. They spent a lot of time checking out the penguins, were awed by the baby jellyfish and huge manta rays - everything at Kelly Tarlton's is amazing.
Afterwards they ate their lunch at the Michael Joseph Savage Memorial (Bastion Point) and then trekked up to the summit of Mt Eden summit and took in the view. The walk up was a bit steep, and it was very windy at the summit, but the view was worth it.

Hui Talanoa Evening
Held on Wednesday 15 March, our Young Māori Leaders (YML) and Pacific Pride Leaders (PPL) did a superb job of hosting this well attended evening which included performances to showcase what we can expect at our upcoming Cultural Day on Saturday 1 April. Kapa Haka sung the waiata, I te po, as a tribute to the late Whaea Brenda, Kapa Haka tutor, 2022.
Members of the School Board were introduced to those attending and Ben Coop, Faculty Leader Mathematics and Statistics, provided information on changes to NCEA Literacy and Numeracy.
Parents shared what success looked like for their child. This parent voice will be included in the Strategic Planning process as the School Board works with an external facilitator on setting a new Strategic Plan for 2024 - 2026.

Boys Senior Gold Volleyball Team WINNERS!
Huge congratulations to our boys Senior Gold volleyball team who won Division 2 at the Auckland Secondary Schools Championships held at Pullman Park Arena in Papakura from 15 - 17 March.Huge congratulations to our boys Senior Gold volleyball team who won Division 2 at the Auckland Secondary Schools Championships held at Pullman Park Arena in Papakura from 15 - 17 March.
| This team is coached by Peter Jamieson, a frequent relief teacher at Lynfield who started with the senior boys volleyball four years ago (when they never won a match), to now winning Division 2 at the Auckland Champs is a truly impressive result for everyone involved.
Team Members are: Micah Apelu, Sione Apelu, Reuben Elisaia, Zack Jones, Herman Kwon, Tyler Matthews, Senna Roberts, Saheb Singh, Frank Ave, Zac Anderson and Rocco Gough. Only one player is Year 13, all the other boys are Year 10, 11 and 12 who will all be back next year and looking forward to qualifying for Division 1 at the Auckland Secondary School Championships! |

Parent Student Teacher Conferences
Our Term 1 Parent, Student, Teacher (PST) Conferences will take place on:
Thursday 30 March (from 1.00 to 7.00 pm) and Tuesday 4 April (1.00 to 7.00 pm)
Bookings open on Friday 17 March at 3.00 pm and close on Wednesday 29 March 3.00 pm
They will reopen Friday 31 March at 9.00 am and close on Monday 3 April at 3.00 pm
Each appointments is for 15 minutes. The meetings can be either face to face or online however, all bookings will receive a Google Meet link. Your child’s Hui mai teacher will ask which option you plan to use prior to the meeting.
The focus of the meeting will be goal setting and readiness to learn. This is a great opportunity to meet your child's Hui mai teacher and discuss their academic learning and goals for the first half of the year. Students are expected to attend these conferences with you, and to lead the conversation.

Happy St Patrick’s Day to you all! It is fantastic to see the amount of green around the school and staff wearing some amazing outfits.
The Irish have observed this day as a religious holiday for over 1,000 years. On St. Patrick's Day, which falls during the Christian season of Lent, Irish families would traditionally attend church in the morning and celebrate in the afternoon. Given it is a festival day there is so much more to St Patrick’s Day than what countries outside of Ireland observe. It is a day of celebrating all things Irish: food, art, music – all the aspects that make up a robust, well loved culture! As you continue to move through your day, take a moment to absorb this old Irish blessing:
May love and laughter light your days and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours, wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world with joy that long endures.
May all life’s passing seasons bring the best to you and yours!

On Wednesday, March 8, we held our NCEA Information Evening. Academic Advisor, Neil Waddington, delivered an informative and entertaining presentation to a packed staffroom.
Our Faculty Leaders were available for parents and caregivers to answer questions after the presentation and many parents took this opportunity.
Thank you to Neil, our Faculty Leaders, and whanau for making this evening such a success.

Year 9 Whanau EveningWe were delighted to welcome Year 9 parents and caregivers onsite on Thursday 9 March. The evening began with a welcome powhiri from our Young Māori Leaders (YML) and Pacific Pride Leaders (PPL) in the Hall. Afterwards there was an opportunity to meet with the Hui mai teacher and find out more about the Lynfield College home-student-school partnership. Following the Hui mai session, supper was shared in the Staffroom along with support on how to access the Parent Portal and Schoology, and opportunities to find out more about school processes. |

The aim of this theme is to get the world talking about 'Why equal opportunities aren't enough'. People start from different places, so true inclusion and belonging require equitable action.

House Sports Day 2023
Held on Friday 3 March, House Sports Day is a sporting highlight that makes for a great break from the classroom for the whole school. A brilliant example of teamwork and support within and across each of the six house teams made for a memorable but tiring day, thanks to some sunny weather for a change.
