Lynfield College offers a huge range of music opportunities for both experienced and beginner musicians. Most rehearsals run once a week at lunchtime or after school under the direction of experienced teachers. Each year the department also attends a wide range of festivals and competitions. There is also a recording studio, used on a regular basis to produce good quality recordings of some of the bands and other groups.
Extra-curricular Music is a busy and successful area for the college. The Jazz Combo are currently New Zealand champions, the Big Band won the KBB Music Festival and senior rock band The Flock was selected for the Play it Strange Song Writing Competition, for the national finalists CD and the finals of Stand Up Stand Out.
