NCEA Level 1
There are two music courses available at NCEA Level 1. Both courses include performing as a soloist and/or member of a group, composing original music, using music technology and developing music theory knowledge. The achievement standards are as follows:
Music Studies
STANDARD: 91090 (6 CREDITS)
Perform two pieces of music as a featured soloist
STANDARD: 91091 (4 CREDITS)
Demonstrate ensemble skills through performing a piece of music as a member of a group
STANDARD: 91092 (4 CREDITS)
Compose two original pieces of music
STANDARD: 91094 (4 CREDITS)
Demonstrate aural and theoretical skills through transcription (External).
Music Projects
STANDARD: 91090 (6 CREDITS)
Perform two pieces of music as a featured soloist
STANDARD: 91091 (4 CREDITS)
Demonstrate ensemble skills through performing a piece of music as a member of a group
